Laser Cut Signs Australia: Materials, Uses and Pricing (2026)

Laser cutting has transformed custom signage in Australia. What once required expensive tooling and long lead times can now be produced in days — to any shape, in any material, with millimetre precision. This guide covers everything you need to know about laser cut signs: what’s possible, what they cost, and how to get the best result.

What Is Laser Cutting?

Laser cutting uses a high-powered focused laser beam to cut, score or engrave materials with extreme precision. Our Frenchs Forest workshop uses CO2 and fibre laser systems that cut:

  • Acrylic (perspex) — 3mm to 25mm. Clean, polished edge on cut faces. Most popular for signs.
  • Timber / MDF / Ply — 3mm to 18mm. Natural look; great for rustic, décor and hospitality signage.
  • Aluminium — 1mm to 3mm. External-grade durability. Ideal for outdoor, industrial, compliance signs.
  • Foam / Foamcore / Sintra PVC — lightweight display signs, events, retail displays.
  • Leather, felt, fabric — for branded merchandise, patches, apparel.

Types of Laser Cut Signs We Make

1. Reception & Office Signs

Flat or layered acrylic panels with your business name, logo and directional text. Can be wall-mounted flat or floated on standoff pins for a premium 3D look. See our Floating 3D Signs →

2. Shopfront & Retail Letters

Individual cut letters — white, black, gold mirror — at heights from 50mm to 300mm. Great for cafes, salons, gyms and retail stores. Install in minutes with our included template.

3. Layered Dimensional Signs

2–3 layers of different materials (acrylic + timber, acrylic + MDF) create signs with real physical depth. The floating face layer casts a natural shadow — no lighting required. See Layered Signs →

4. Event & Exhibition Signage

Large-format laser cut foam letters and panels for trade shows, photo walls, marquee letters and pop-up retail. Light, easy to assemble and transport.

5. Personalised Gifts & Awards

Laser engraved chopping boards, keyrings, slates, timber plaques and glass awards. See our Laser Engraving service →
